History
The first project by Darryl Ainey Custom Woods Agency & Floors Exclusive was the Judith Leiber jewelry store in the Wynn Casino, Las Vegas with 400 sqft. of Bolivian Rosewood & Pau Ferro by hand applying a penetrating oil finish. Henceforth, we created custom floors for many restaurants, hotels, retail spaces and higher-end residential projects.
Our extensive and internationally renowned interior designer clientele constantly supported us in pushing the creative limits beyond what any manufacturer was doing anywhere in the world at that time. This created a mindset within our organization to constantly loom for new products and processes that keeps us at the leading edge of the wood floor design curve.
Just after the turn of the millennium, Darryl could see his current profession in print advertising was plateauing. In looking to make a strategic career change, the hardwood flooring industry was introduced to him by his late wife, a well-known professional in the field. Upon entering the industry, Darryl attended various courses offered by the National Wood Flooring Association, and spent many hours working alongside flooring installers and finishers as an apprentice.
Darryl was natural when it came to colour perception, sparking one of his unmatched talents within the industry, custom product development. Darryl’s unique skillset has driven him to formulate his own eco-friendly, food safe stains for hardwood floors and advanced his approach of bringing quality product to the market by identifying different challenges designers face. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, Darryl has worked with some of the highest-profile designers across Canada, including Chapi Chapo Design, Yabu Pushelburg, Burdifelik, Regina Sturrock Design and Karen Sealy Design.
